Belicit ("we", "us") is a location-aware social network. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions? Write to help@belicit.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email, username, full name, and any bio, profile photo, banner or website link you add.
- Your activity: posts, photos, replies, likes, reposts, follows and notifications.
- Location: your device location, which Belicit refreshes about every 30 minutes while the app is open. We turn it into a locality, district, state and country.
- Verification details: the reason, organisation, designation and area you give when you apply for a badge or authority status.
How we use your location
We use it to build your feed (nearby, district, state, country), to decide who can see area announcements, and to decide which posts you can reply to. Your exact coordinates are stored privately and are readable only by your own account.
Each post you publish carries your area name and a rounded position, accurate to roughly 1 km, so distance-based filtering works. Other people never see your exact coordinates.
What other people can see
- Your profile (name, username, bio, photo, badge, followers) and your posts.
- The area name on each of your posts, for example your locality or district.
Services we rely on
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and file storage.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim receives your coordinates, or an area name entered by an admin, to look up place names.
- Google Fonts serves the fonts on our public pages.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account and the data linked to it, email help@belicit.com from the address you signed up with.
Your choices
- Turn location off in your browser settings at any time. You can still use Belicit, but area features and announcements will be limited.
- Edit your profile details and username in Settings.
- Choose who can reply to each post when you publish it.
Children
Belicit is not meant for children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Continued use of Belicit means you accept the updated policy.
